Robin Hood

Description

Robin Hood was a collaborative Game Jam project with a week long deadline. The prompt that we were assigned was 'Urban Legends'. With a literal take on the prompt we decided to take the 'Urban Legend' Robin Hood, and apply him to an urban environment.

The player is equipped with a Bow and Arrow, and has to navigate a city via parkour to steal treasure at the end. They must avoid being caught by guards by either outrunning, sneaking past or shooting them. When the player aims their bow, time slows down. This allows more precision whilst shooting, or the ability to make slight adjustments mid air to ensure they don't fall.

My Role/Contributions

Role

Lead Developer/Lead Designer/General Guidance

The group that I collaborated with for this project consisted of three first year 'Animation and Modelling for Games' Students and a first year 'Games Design' student.

As I was the 'Senior' of the group, I guided and helped refine the others members' ideas.

After ideation and a relatively solid understanding of where we would take the game, I designed the mechanics and helped implement the elements that the other members wanted in a way that would work within the context of the game.

During the development stage, I programmed the game whilst the first year 'Games Design' student created the level and the others created assets.
